I have to admit even after being a member of First United Methodist Church since 2012, I had NO IDEA the breadth of services offered or the number of lives touched by the Mission.
At the First Street Mission, our prayer is that we run ourselves out of business. For decades, hundreds of volunteers have worked tirelessly to provide for the basic needs of neighbors who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.
The K-5th grade Mission classes did a great job decorating terra-cotta pots and planting small plants! Please stop by the 2nd floor this Sunday, May 7, to purchase a plant for Mother’s Day!
It’s humbling to be here, surrounded by people living their faith. It’s also fun, challenging, and inspiring. You’re invited to join us sometime. Sign up for a tour and see for yourself.
First Street Methodist Mission was filled with music and laughing today. It may have been cold and cloudy outside, but our friends were inside celebrating together.
We couldn’t make events like Thanksgiving baskets happen, nor any of our year-round services for that matter, without the generosity of the First Church community, so again—THANK YOU!
In Matthew, we are called to be the light of the world; to be a source of comfort and reassurance to those we meet along our faith journey. The Mission parking lot has been transformed into a sacramental table that respectfully feeds people in body, mind, and spirit.
Please join me Sunday for the historic Next90 vote by voting “YES” and then again on September 17 to “get up and give” to these life-changing organizations as part of North Texas Giving Day.
Over these past 4 months, I have been unbelievably grateful for First Street Methodist Mission for a variety of selfish reasons. I wanted to offer this love letter to the ministry that has ministered to me in these past 4 months. So to Linda, Bernie, Kathryn, the volunteers, the board, and all of you have donated: thank you.
