I am sitting at my home computer writing this and thinking how blessed I am to be associated with each of you! Thank you for hanging in there with First Church during these unusual times of the pandemic.
In March when we locally began this pandemic phenomenon, we ventured into the unknown certainly with no expectations except that First Church was going to be here for our flock and to provide the ministries and programs to the best of our ability. Thank you for making First Church a priority. Because of you, First Church ministries continue to bring comfort, hope, and “soul food” to our own disciples as well as to individuals who are finding us online. We remain so grateful for your discipleship and enthusiasm!
I hope you heard Rev. Lance Marshall and Dr. Mike Marshall share the exciting news on Sunday morning about current giving here at FUMCFW. Total giving — giving that supports designated ministries, programs, Next90, and partner organizations — is up an amazing 30% in comparison to 2019. Thank you! First Church’s response should not be surprising, because after all, that is part of our DNA – putting discipleship into heartfelt action.
Are you aware that in March when the President signed into law the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, there were some changes regarding charitable contributions? Here is some information that could help you understand what the new law says.
In those famous words of songstress Ella Fitzgerald, “Summertime and givin’ is easy.” Okay, so those are not the exact words to Ella’s song, but I am sure she would be fine with me taking the liberty for the benefit of our First Church ministries and programs.
Because of your discipleship, First Church remains financially strong, even with empty pews on Sunday mornings. I witness God’s love in action on a daily basis as disciples in our First Church faith community come together primarily through technology to share your individual gifts of time, talents, and treasure!
