Register for Preschool and PDO

By January 22, 2021

Now entering its 40th year of providing a safe, nurturing early childhood education program for children from infancy to kindergarten, our FUMCFW Day School will open its registration for Fall 2021 Parents’ Day Out and Preschool programming. Registration for church members will begin on February 18 and end on February 24, then will be opened to the public on March 2 until all spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Learning should be fun — especially in preschool!” says Nina Burrows, Director. “My job as preschool director is to help create a safe, loving school environment for you and your children. Our qualified, caring teachers help to make this easy! They work with students individually, and design learning environments tailored to children’s abilities and interests. Our families are so supportive, and the strong collaboration between home and school distinguishes our program.”

Parents of infants and toddlers, from 3 months to 23 months (as of September 1, 2021) can sign up for PDO on the days of their choice Monday – Friday 9:30 am – 2:30 pm, September through May. Parents of preschoolers age 2 – Pre-K/Bridge can pre-register now for FUMC Day School’s accredited classroom curriculum, outstanding enrichment opportunities, and age-appropriate exposure to fitness, science, music, and Spanish with experienced teachers and kid-friendly learning activities.

Paula Wagstaff, Parents’ Day Out Director, explains, “Most times when a child first comes to PDO, it is their first experience having a non-family member care for them. We strive to work together with families to make everyone feel safe and comfortable while also having fun and making friends. We love what we do and taking care of these sweet babies makes our hearts happy! I am also the director of the church nursery on Sunday mornings and the monthly Parents’ Night Out, which we hope to resume sometime soon. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.”

The Day School’s goal is to help children acquire both social competence and the specific skills they need to succeed as learners. This gem of the First Church Faith community is led by Director Nina Burrows and PDO Director Paula Wagstaff. Licensed by Texas Health and Human Services and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, FUMC Day School offers high-quality early learning opportunities for young children that connect practice, policy, and research, with incredible additional enrichment programs woven into its curriculum.

FUMC Day School follows CDC, Child Care Licensing, state and local health officials, and government recommendations regarding COVID-19, implementing increased infection control strategies to provide consistent, reliable service to parents and children while maintaining a healthy environment that will minimize closures.
