Jesus used parables to teach important lessons in a way that people could easily understand.
Jesus emphasizes the reversal of expectations in the Kingdom of God.
After such an interesting teaching, they were amazed at the attitude of the man who had many treasures and was unwilling to let them go.
Jesus was looking around as he was using the experience of the man who wanted to inherit eternal life as a teaching for his disciples when he saw one of the gates called the “eye of the needle” and mentions that it is easier for a camel to pass through that gate than for a person with wealth to enter the kingdom of God.
A man wished to inherit eternal life and asked what he had to do to obtain it; Jesus told him that he should let go of that which he treasured, that which was wealth to him, and the man left because he was not ready to let go of all that was important to him.
The man who asked Jesus what to do to inherit eternal life now received a special look from Jesus.
Having God on your side is not just something you desire, and it is not something you earn.
Apparently, this man is desperate (he came running and knelt down) and has a great request that he hopes will be answered by this great man who has heard great things.
