Hi. I’m new here!

Growing up, I spent the majority of my time at church, church camp, or doing church-related things. My youth group looked a little different than this one — there were only 8 or 9 of us in the youth group on a regular basis, but we loved being together. I also grew up in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). So, youth group looked a little different, but it was so meaningful and had such a big impact on me that it shaped what I saw myself doing for the rest of my life.

Part of my deciding to pursue ministry meant spending time in higher education studying the things that would help me in ministry. I went to TCU and majored in Religion and Communication Studies and spent time learning so much about other faith traditions as well as my own. I was the president of the Interfaith group on campus, was active in campus ministries, and found that my best and closest relationships were the people I was connected to because of my faith. After TCU, I went to Brite Divinity School to pursue a Master of Divinity degree. I spent a lot of time in classes that focused on working with young people and working toward a more just world. During this time, I was the youth minister at a church in Flower Mound, and it further solidified the fact that I was called to do this work with young people. I loved the work, the people, and the community I was able to serve.

In my final year at Brite, as I was finishing up my degree, my husband and I found out we were having our first child! We welcomed him into the world a little over a month after I graduated with my MDiv and was ordained as a minister in the Christian Church (DOC). We joke that we like to do all of the big life things all at one time.

When I found out about this position, it sounded like a match made in heaven! The ability to work with a team of staff that’s excited about youth ministry and dedicated to making the church a loving and inclusive space for everyone was a dream of mine.

It’s only been a few days since I officially started here in the Justin, and it’s so clear to me that this place, these people, this ministry — it’s something special. I’m excited to be a part of this and thrilled to be on this journey with you. I can’t wait to get to know each of you in the days and weeks to come! Stop by my office anytime.
