Fall Kick Off Recap

By September 9, 2025Youth Ministries

What an absolute whirlwind of a Sunday, y’all!

We started off the day with Sunday School, where we had FIFTY-SIX (yes, you read that right, 56) students in the Big Room on the first floor of the Justin, 64 confirmands on the second floor for Confirmation, lots of small group leaders and cohort leaders and, of course, our youth staff leading the way. Sunday morning was a huge success with lots of donuts and lemonade (and coffee for our volunteers).

Our confirmation students were split into their cohorts for the first time and got an introduction into what confirmation will look like for the next 6 months. Our youth students learned that even though compassion isn’t always the easy thing to do, it’s always the right thing to do. We had Rev. Dr. Jenn Pick come over and preside at the table so our students could take communion. And, as always, there was lots of silliness, joy, and good conversation before and after worship.

Then, on Sunday night, we kicked off The Refuge for the school year with a 70s-themed party for the Justin Building’s 70th birthday! We had 36 students who all showed up for some disco-diva fun – if you know a youth who was there, ask them about the relay. There were balloon games, slices of cookie cake, the best burgers, volunteers who have served in Youth Ministry for years, volunteers who were serving for the first time, and more!

Fall Kick Off Sunday is always joyful chaos, and this year was no different. If it’s any indication of how the school year will go, we’re in for a year of fun, fellowship, learning, and serving.

Missed out on the Fall Kick Off fun? Don’t worry! There’s always next week. We meet for Sunday School from 9:30-10:30 AM on Sunday mornings, and The Refuge from 5:30-7:30 PM on Sunday evenings. We’d love to have you there!

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out here. We’re always happy to chat.
