First Street Methodist Mission – Food 4 Kids
One in four children come from families that live with food insecurity. Food 4 Kids is a ministry of First Street Methodist Mission that sends food home for the weekend for 200 elementary-aged children at Charles C. Nash and A.V. Vato Elementary Schools during the school year to relieve fear and worry about where their next meal will come from.
Kids Hope USA
Kids Hope USA partners with children at T.A. Sims Elementary School and Charles Nash Elementary Schools providing weekly one on one mentoring, prayers, holiday parties, teacher appreciation activities, and donations of school supplies, books, and uniforms. Providing another caring reliable adult to befriend and nurture the student helps them grow in confidence and academic success. Students served show increases in key areas of development – 65% in educational success, 79% in socio/emotional competency, 56% in attitude toward risky behavior, and more than 99% advance to the next grade.

FUMCFW Children’s Mission Classes
As part of the Children’s Academy Sunday School classes, our youngest church members get to be the hands and feet of Christ as they learn to Love God and Serve others. In Mission Class, they learn about the needs of others in our community and the world and are given the opportunity to help those in need. Children write notes of encouragement for patients at Cook Children’s Hospital, pack hygiene kits and healthy snacks for our First Street Methodist Mission, and other projects for those in need.
FUMCFW Youth Mission Trip Scholarships
Each summer, our Youth Ministry takes a group of high school students on an out-of-town, week-long Mission Trip designed to take them out of their comfort zone and push their limits while in service to others. The Youth will help with construction projects, work with children, combat food insecurity and learn about generational poverty up close as they work to live out the transformational love and grace of Christ in the lives they serve. Teenagers give up their creature comforts and sleep on floors, to return transformed with friendships cemented through shared trials and joys, and a deepened faith.
United Community Center
One hundred years ago, women from FUMCFW saw a need for childcare and education for children whose mothers were working. Today, UCC operates three community centers in neighborhoods where more than 90% of the population lives below the federal poverty line. All three centers offer educational programs for children and client assistance and advocacy for families and seniors providing food, clothing, and community referrals.
Dementia Friendly Fort Worth
Dementia Friendly Fort Worth was created to educate all sectors of the community about dementia and better ways to care. The very first educational program started at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. Their mission is to collaborate with communities through CARE; Connection, Activities, Resources, Education. They have many educational opportunities including those that enrich the lives of persons living with dementia and their care partners and offering certifications for dementia friendly businesses, organizations, and institutions.
