I Saw God Today

With a nod to the familiar turn of phrase that also became the title of George Strait’s 2008 hit, this brand-new weekly column will feature stories of the Grace, Faith, and Transformation to be found in the love of God through Jesus Christ in the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth faith community.

Where did you see God today? We’d love to share your personal glimpses of God’s love in action — or how you’ve noticed God’s fingerprints on creation — with others!

FUMCFW Stories of Faith, Grace, and Transformation

The old Jewish saying, “God created people because God loves stories” is an idea science has supported over the years with increasing evidence that our neurological makeup is designed for storytelling and story-listening. It’s easy to see, then, why sharing our stories of faith with one another helps us make sense of not only our world, but of God’s presence in our lives.

At First Church Fort Worth, we offer just such an opportunity through I Saw God Today, a digital platform for sharing stories of God’s presence in our lives as a community of faith. Each story begins around a specific theme that is first written as a feature story, then distilled into a finely-tuned script to be narrated and paired with images that tell the story visually, with an original underscore to set the tone and mood.

The final production will then be posted here and shared with our local and online community via our robust FUMCFW social media platforms. To tell our faith stories and share our awareness of God’s presence in our lives is to reach out to others in a real, profound, and powerful way.

If you have a faith story you’d like to share, please let us know and we’ll be delighted to listen and help you share it!

I Saw God Today: Faith, Part II — Community That Transcends

Calling this past month “a blur,” Jennifer Bond, Youth Parent Leader and active church member says that one thing she know for sure about faith is that God showed up in FUMCFW youth ministries, the funeral and celebration of Chris Vardy, and so many other places that youth and their families were this week.

I Saw God Today — Stories

I attended a funeral recently of someone great. Not great in the “mighty,” “powerful,” “famous,” or “legendary” sense, although I know he was most likely some of all of that.
