UMCOR is There

By October 2, 2020
This past month retired FUMCFW pastor Rev. Chuck Graff, along with first church UMCOR trainees Kim Gudimetla and Rusty Thompson traveled to Deridder, Louisiana with our First Church trailer to help with debris cleanup following recent storms and flooding in the Lake Charles area.

During this period of five days, the group led by Chuck helped two sisters and a child tarp their roof, a Vietnam vet and his wife clear debris to create a path for a medical van to take him to his cancer treatments (his cancer is from agent orange).

In addition to the physical work, this team cooked meals in the local church to help serve this town of 10,000 people with no drinkable water for more than a month following the disastrous storms.

Starting October 5, Charme and Dwight Robarts will lead another team to this devastated area to offer continued help with cleanup and support to the people there still living in need.

Look for this report and photos upon their return!
