Welcome to our new sermon series: “Weird Things Christians Do.” Over the next several weeks, we’re going to take an honest (and sometimes humorous) look at the practices that might seem peculiar to others but are absolutely central to our faith. From reading ancient texts as if they were written just for us, to speaking creeds that connect us to believers across centuries, to gathering around a table that somehow brings heaven and earth together – we’ll explore why these “weird” things are actually profound expressions of God’s work in our lives.
But this isn’t just about what we do on Sunday mornings. Being a Christian shapes every day of our week in counter-cultural ways. We’re called to love our enemies, pray for those who hurt us, and find joy in serving others. In a world that celebrates independence, we embrace interdependence. In a culture that prizes instant gratification, we practice patience and persistent faith.
Join us as we dive deep into these peculiar practices that form us as followers of Jesus. You might just find that the weirdest parts of our faith are actually the most wonderful. Whether you’re new to Christianity and wondering about all these strange customs, or you’ve been practicing them for years without really knowing why, this series will help you understand and appreciate the beautiful oddity of Christian living.
