Tenebrae, meaning “service of shadows” or “darkness,” is a solemn retelling of Christ’s final hours through liturgy, Scripture, and music. This meaningful service gradually descends into darkness and concludes with the tearing of the veil and total silence. In remembering the cross, we hold fast to the mystery that through suffering comes peace, and through death, new life.
