The Gathering Lyrics

The Way

Through every battle
Through every heartbreak
Through every circumstance
I believe that You are my fortress
Oh, You are my portion
And You are my hiding place, oh

I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life

I believe
Through every blessing
Through every promise
Through every breath I take
I believe that You are Provider
Oh, You are Protector
You are the One I love, oh

I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are
Oh, You are
Oh, You are

And it’s a new horizon and I’m set on You
And You meet me here today with mercies that are new
All my fears and doubts, they can all come too
Because they can’t stay long when I’m here with You
It’s a new horizon and I’m set on You
And You meet me here today with mercies that are new
All my fears and doubts
They can all come too
Because they can’t stay long when

I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are

It’s a new horizon and I’m set on You
And You meet me here today with mercies that are new
And all my fears and doubts, they can all come too
Because they can’t stay long when

I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
And I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are

Walk in Love

When I wake up in the morning
gonna walk in love
when the evening sun is falling
gonna walk in love
through the troubles of the day
gonna walk in love
or whatever comes my way
gonna walk in love

Brother or sister
let us walk in love
gonna walk in love
Singing hallelujah, we shall overcome
gonna walk in love

When my brother turns his back
gonna walk in love
When my enemy attacks
gonna walk in love
When I feel like dropping off
gonna walk in love
With no strength to carry on
gonna walk in love

Brother or sister
let us walk in love
gonna walk in love
Singing hallelujah, we shall overcome
gonna walk in love

We should come together
we shall live as one
gonna walk in love
Given all our suffering, we shall rise up
gonna walk in love

Brother or sister
let us walk in love
gonna walk in love
Singing hallelujah, we shall overcome
gonna walk in love

Dancing on the Waves

When I wake up in the morning
gonna walk in love
when the evening sun is falling
gonna walk in love
through the troubles of the day
gonna walk in love
or whatever comes my way
gonna walk in love

Brother or sister
let us walk in love
gonna walk in love
Singing hallelujah, we shall overcome
gonna walk in love

When my brother turns his back
gonna walk in love
When my enemy attacks
gonna walk in love
When I feel like dropping off
gonna walk in love
With no strength to carry on
gonna walk in love

Brother or sister
let us walk in love
gonna walk in love
Singing hallelujah, we shall overcome
gonna walk in love

We should come together
we shall live as one
gonna walk in love
Given all our suffering, we shall rise up
gonna walk in love

Brother or sister
let us walk in love
gonna walk in love
Singing hallelujah, we shall overcome
gonna walk in love

Matthew H. Corl, arranger

*Call to Worship
One: Joy comes to those who hope in God.
All: For the Lord is a Keeper of promises.
One: Our God is a God of healing and help and hope!
All: The Lord will reign forever,
One: Our God will keep faith with all generations.
All: Let us praise the Lord both now and forevermore!

*Hymn 400: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”
Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I’m come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
daily I’m constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

*Affirmation of Faith 883
Dr. Mike Marshall, Associate Pastor
We are not alone, we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

*Gloria Patri 70
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Sacrament of Baptism
Ellis Elizabeth LanCarte, daughter of Sarah and Adam LanCarte
William Hudson Rice, son of Kelcey and Nicholas Rice

Baptismal Hymn 191: “Jesus Loves Me” (vs. 1)
Jesus loves me, this I know,
for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong;
they are weak, but he is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Congregational Response
With God’s help we will so order our lives after the example
of Christ that Ellis Elizabeth and William Hudson, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal.

Faith Like a Child
“Mister Mark” Burrows, Director of Children’s Ministries

*Hymn 420: “Breathe on Me, Breath of God”
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will,
to do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly part of me
glows with thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
of thine eternity.

Scripture: Romans 8:18-25
God speaks to us through the reading of scripture.
Thanks be to God.

Notes: A personal testimony of the stories and scripture that shape my (Lance’s) faith and ministry. There is a relentless hope for the future because of who God is.

 Pastoral Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Offertory: “Majesty”
Jack Schrader, arranger

All: We will go out to be God’s people in the world.
One: May grace, peace, hope, love, and joy forever accompany you. Amen.
