The Gathering Lyrics

Come Thou Fount

Come thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I’m fixed upon it
Mount of God’s unchanging love

Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither by Thy help I’ve come
And I hope by thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed his precious blood

Oh to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be
Let Thy grace now like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, oh, take it seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Firm Foundation (He Won’t)

Christ is my firm foundation
The rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaken
I’ve never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
‘Cause He’s never let me down
He’s faithful through generations
So why would He fail now?
He won’t

No, He won’t, no, He won’t
No, He won’t
He won’t, He won’t, He won’t, He won’t

I’ve still got joy in chaos
I’ve got peace that makes no sense
I won’t be going under
I’m not held by my own strength
‘Cause I’ve built my life on Jesus
He’s never let me down
He’s faithful through every season
So why would He fail now? (Shout it out)

He won’t
He won’t
He won’t fail
He won’t fail
He won’t
He won’t (no, no, no, no, He won’t fail)
He won’t fail
He won’t fail

Christ is my firm foundation (let’s go) (testify)
The rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaken (I’ve never been more)
I’ve never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus (yeah)
‘Cause He’s never let me down (He’s faithful)
He’s faithful through generations (so why)
So why would He fail now? (I need you to shout it out) (come on)

He won’t
Sing it out, sing
He won’t
No, He won’t, no, He won’t
He won’t fail
He won’t fail (He won’t)
He won’t (yeah)
He won’t (I’ve never seen Him fail, no)
He won’t fail
He won’t fail

Rain came, wind blew
But my house was built on You
I’m safe with You
I’m gonna make it through (I feel somebody’s faith rising)
Rain came, wind blew
But my house was built on You (this is the reason you made it, ’cause)
I’m safe with You
I’m gonna make it through (one more time, oh, rain came)
Rain came, wind blew
My house was built on You (this is the reason I’m standing)
I’m safe with You
I’m gonna make it through (I’m gonna make it)
Yeah, I’m gonna make it through (’cause I’m standing)
‘Cause I’m standing strong on You (I’m gonna make it)
Yeah, I’m gonna make it through (my house is built on)
‘Cause my house is built on You (one more time, y’all, sing)

Christ is my firm foundation (yeah)
The rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaken (oh)
I’ve never been more glad (sing it out)
That I put my faith in Jesus (He’s never let me down)
‘Cause He’s never let me down (He’s faithful)
He’s faithful through generations
So why would He fail now?

He won’t

Dancing on the Waves

I’m standing at your door
My heart is calling yours
Come fall into My arms
You’re weary from it all
Been running for too long
I’m here to bring you home

I’m reaching out, I’ll chase you down
I dare you to believe how much I love you now
Don’t be afraid, I am your strength
We’ll be walking on the water, dancing on the waves

Look up and lift your eyes
The future’s open wide
I have great plans for you, oh, yes, I do
Your past is dead and gone
Your healing has begun
I’m making all things new, oh

I’m reaching out, I’ll chase you down
I dare you to believe how much I love you now, oh
Don’t be afraid, I am your strength
We’ll be walking on the water, dancing on the waves

Dancing on the waves
Can you see us just dancing?

I set every star into place
So you would remember My name
I made it all for you
You are My masterpiece
You are the reason I sing
This is My song for you
Every star in the sky
I set every star into place
So you would remember my name
I made it all for you (My love, My love)
You are My masterpiece
You are the reason I sing
This is my song for you

I’m reaching out, I’ll chase you down
I dare you to believe how much I love you, oh, I love you
Don’t be afraid, know that I am your strength
We’ll be walking on the water, dancing on the waves

“Suffering, Endurance, Character, Hope”
Romans 5:1-5
Trinity Sunday
Dr. Tim Bruster and Rev. Lance Marshall
Co-Senior Pastors

Welcome & Announcements
Rev. Phyllis Barren, Associate Pastor

Choral Prelude: “Waitin’ for the Light to Shine”
Roger Miller, composer
Adoramus Chamber Choir
Avary Vaughn, guest director

*Call to Worship
One: We have great joy in Christ our Lord who calls and heals us. For while we still endure hardship and trouble,
All: We are reminded that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope.
One: And Hope does not disappoint us.
All: AMEN.

*Hymn 98: “To God Be the Glory”
To God be the glory, great things he hath done!
So loved he the world that he gave us his Son,
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
and opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Refrain:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thru Jesus the Son,
and give him the glory, great things he hath done!

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to every believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things he hath taught us, great things he hath done,
and great our rejoicing thru Jesus the Son;
but purer, and higher, and greater will be
our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

*Affirmation of Faith 883
We are not alone, we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

*Gloria Patri 70
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Sacrament of Baptism
Ava Lynn Putnam, daughter of Hollyanne and Jesse Putnam

Baptismal Hymn 191: “Jesus Loves Me” (vs. 1)
Jesus loves me, this I know,
for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong;
they are weak, but he is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Congregational Response
With God’s help we will so order our lives after the example
of Christ that Ava Lynn, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal.

Faith Like a Child
Dr. Mike Marshall, Associate Pastor

*Hymn 384: “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”
Love divine, all loves excelling,
joy of heaven, to earth come down;
fix in us thy humble dwelling;
all thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, thou art all compassion,
pure, unbounded love thou art;
visit us with thy salvation;
enter every trembling heart.

Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit
into every troubled breast!
Let us all in thee inherit;
let us find that second rest.
Take away our bent to sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
end of faith, as its beginning,
set our hearts at liberty.

Come, Almighty to deliver,
let us all thy life receive;
suddenly return and never,
nevermore thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
serve thee as thy hosts above,
pray and praise thee without ceasing,
glory in thy perfect love.

Finish, then, thy new creation;
pure and spotless let us be.
Let us see thy great salvation
perfectly restored in thee;
changed from glory into glory,
till in heaven we take our place,
till we cast our crowns before thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Pastoral Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Offertory: “Praise and Thanksgiving”
Dale Wood
Peggy Graff, organist

*Doxology 95
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow.
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heavenly host.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*Benediction
One: Our gathering will soon be ended. Where will we go, and what will we do?
All: We will go out to be God’s people in the world.
One: May grace, peace, hope, love, and joy forever accompany you. Amen.

*Congregational Benediction: “Sent Forth by God’s Blessing”
Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,
the people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The service is ended, O now be extended
the fruits of our worship in all who believe.
The seed of the teaching, receptive souls reaching,
shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us, and love shall unite us
to work for God’s kingdom and answer the call.

*Postlude: “To God Be the Glory”
Jack Schrader, arranger
