One: Come, Holy Spirit of God! Bring your mighty power into our lives.
All: Rush through our spirits, inspiring us to witness to the great love of God.
Choral response: Spirit of God, bright Wind, breath that bids life begin, blow as you always do; create us anew. Give us the breath to sing, lifted on soaring wing, held in your hands, borne on your wings.
Congregational sung response: Spirit of God, bright Wind, breath that bids life begin, blow as you always do; create us anew. Give us the breath to sing, lifted on soaring wing, held in your hands, borne on your wings.
One: Come, Holy Spirit of God! Light bright flames in our hearts.
All: Fill us with the confident spirit of faith that our lives will show your love.
Congregational sung response: Spirit of God, bright Flame, send us in your holy name, the power to heal, to share your love
One: Come, Holy Spirit of God! Be with us today in our thoughts and our prayers.
All: Come, Holy Spirit of God! Be with us in our words and our deeds. Amen.

*Hymn 559: “Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation”
1. Christ is made the sure foundation,
Christ the head and cornerstone;
chosen of the Lord and precious,
binding all the church in one;
holy Zion’s help forever,
and her confidence alone.

2. To this temple, where we call thee,
come, O Lord of Hosts, today!
With thy faithful loving-kindness
hear thy people as they pray,
and thy fullest benediction
shed within its walls alway.

3. Here vouchsafe to all thy servants
what they ask of thee to gain;
what they gain from thee forever
with the blessed to retain,
and hereafter in thy glory
evermore with thee to reign.

4. Laud and honor to the Father,
laud and honor to the Son,
laud and honor to the Spirit,
ever three and ever one;
one in might and one in glory,
while unending ages run.

*Affirmation of Faith 881
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*Gloria Patri 70
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

**Please be seated

Faith Like a Child
Dr. Mike Marshall, Associate Pastor

*Hymn 420: “Breathe on Me, Breath of God”
1. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.

2. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will,
to do and to endure.

3. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly part of me
glows with thy fire divine.

4. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
of thine eternity.

Scripture: Acts 2:1-4
God speaks to us through the reading of scripture.
Thanks be to God.

Pastoral Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Offertory: “Aria in Classic Style for Harp and Organ”
Marcel Grandjany, composer

*Doxology 95
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow.
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heavenly host.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*Benediction
One: Our gathering will soon be ended. Where will we go, and what will we do?
All: We will go out to be God’s people in the world.
One: May grace, peace, hope, love, and joy forever accompany you. Amen.

*Congregational Benediction: “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” (#334 refrain)
Sweet Holy Spirit, sweet Heavenly Dove,
stay right here with us, filling us with your love;
and for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise;
without a doubt we’ll know that we have been revived
when we shall leave this place.

*Postlude: Toccata on “How Firm A Foundation”
Gordon Young, arranger
