One: Brothers and sisters in Christ: Through the Sacrament of Baptism, we become part of God’s family and God’s story, and we are given new birth through water and the Spirit.
All: All of this is God’s gift, offered to us without price.
One: Through Confirmation – the claiming of our faith as our own – we renew the covenant declared at our baptism, acknowledge the work God is doing in our lives and the world around us, and accept the Christian community as our home.
All: This is our home, where we are seen, we are known and we are loved, just as we are.
One: Our story is not yet complete. There is still work to be done as the hands and feet of God in this world, showing kindness, compassion and love to the stranger and neighbor alike.
All: Our work is not yet finished. Thanks be to God! Amen.

1. “Go, make of all disciples.” We hear the call, O Lord,
that comes from thee, our Father, in thy eternal Word.
Inspire our ways of learning through earnest, fervent prayer,
and let our daily living reveal thee everywhere.
2. “Go, make of all disciples,” baptising in the name
of Father, Son, and Spirit, from age to age the same.
We call each new disciple to follow thee, O Lord,
redeeming soul and body by water and the Word.

We give thanks for all that God has already given you and we welcome you in Christian love. As members together with you in the body of Christ and in this congregation of the United Methodist Church, we renew our covenant to faithfully participate in the ministries of the Church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness, that in everything, God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

We believe in God – Creator of heaven and earth; God is perfect
and Holy. God is forgiving and trustworthy. God listens to us and understands what we’re going through. We are never alone.
We believe in Jesus, God’s son – Jesus is God in human form;
he is perfect. Jesus shows us how to live; how to love people abundantly, and serve others humbly. Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and heal our relationship with God. Jesus is our source of hope.
We believe in the Holy Spirit – God’s active presence in the world.
The Holy Spirit gives us the strength and encouragement we need to live as people of God. The Holy Spirit is working in, around, and through us every day, even if we can’t see it.
We believe the Bible is God’s word; it reveals God’s love and grace.
The gospels show us how to live like Jesus. The Bible is a source of wisdom and should never be used to hurt anyone.
We are called to be God’s people in the world – our faith calls us
to love all of our neighbors, even when it is hard.
We believe in the United Methodist Church. FUMC Fort Worth
is our safe place, where we can learn, ask questions, and grow together.
We believe that going to church, praying, and reading scripture
regularly bring us closer to God.
We believe that we are human – perfectly imperfect.
We are God’s beloved, created in God’s image and likeness.
We believe that God holds us to a high standard, but even when
we stumble, we believe God’s love and grace never stop washing over us. Thanks be to God! Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13)
