The Gathering Lyrics

Chain Breaker

If you’ve been walking the same old road for miles and miles
If you’ve been hearing the same old voice tell the same old lies
If you’re trying to fill the same old holes inside
There’s a better life
There’s a better life

If you’ve got pain
He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost
He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains
He’s a chain breaker

We’ve all search for the light of day in the dead of night
We’ve all found ourselves worn out from the same old fight
We’ve all run to things we know just ain’t right
And there’s a better life
There’s a better life

If you’ve got pain
He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost
He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains
He’s a chain breaker

If you believe it
If you receive it
If you can feel it
Somebody testify

If you believe it
If you receive it
If you can feel it
Somebody testify, testify

If you believe it
If you receive it
If you can feel it
Somebody testify

If you’ve got pain
He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost
He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains
He’s a chain breaker

Oh, if you need freedom or saving
He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains
He’s a chain breaker

Reckless Love

Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so so kind to me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the 99
And I couldn’t earn it
I don’t deserve it, still You give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the 99
And I couldn’t earn it
I don’t deserve it, still You give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God

There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me

There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me

There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the 99
I couldn’t earn it, I don’t deserve it, still You give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God

King of My Heart

Let the King of my heart
Be the mountain where I run
The fountain I drink from
Oh, He is my Song
Let the King of my heart
Be the shadow where I hide
The ransom for my life
Oh, He is my Song
You are good, good, oh
You are good, good, oh
You are good, good, oh
You are good, good, oh

Let the King of my heart
Be the wind inside my sails
The anchor in the waves
Oh, He is my Song
Let the King of my heart
Be the fire inside my veins
The echo of my days
Oh, He is my Song

You are good, good, oh
You are good, good, oh
Yes, you are good, good, oh
You are good, good, oh

You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down
You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down
You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down
You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down

You are good, good, oh
You are good, good, oh
Yes, you are good, good, oh
You are good, good, oh

To The Table

Hear the voice of love that’s calling
There’s a chair that waits for you
And a Friend who understands
Everything you’re going through

But you keep standing at a distance
In the shadow of your shame
There’s a light of hope that’s shining
Won’t you come and take your place?

And bring it all to the table
There’s nothing He ain’t seen before
For all your sin, all your sorrow, and your sadness
There’s a Saviour and He calls
Bring it all to the table

He can see the weight you carry
The fears that hold your heart
But through the cross you’ve been forgiven
You’re accepted as you are

So bring it all to the table
Nothing He ain’t seen before
For all your trials, all your worries, and your burdens
There’s a Saviour and He calls
Bring it all to the table

Bring it all

You can bring it all

And come on in, take your place
There’s no one who’s turned away
All you sinners, all you saints
Come right in and find your grace
Come on in, take your place
There’s no one who’s turned away
All you sinners, all you saints
Come on in and find your grace

And bring it all to the table
There’s nothing He ain’t seen before
For all your sin, all your sorrow, and your sadness
There’s a Saviour and He calls
Bring it all to the table

*Call to Worship
Claire Manno, Youth Ministries Program Staff
One: Brothers and sisters in Christ: Through the Sacrament of Baptism, we become part of God’s family and God’s story, and we are given new birth through water and the Spirit.
All: All of this is God’s gift, offered to us without price. Thanks be to God!
One: Through confirmation – the claiming of our faith as our own – we renew the covenant declared at our baptism, acknowledge the work God is doing in our lives and the world around us, and accept the Christian community as our home.
All: This is our home, where we are seen, we are known and we are loved, just as we are. Thanks be to God!
One: Our story is not yet complete. There is still work to be done as the hands and feet of God in this world, showing kindness, compassion and love to the stranger and neighbor alike.
All: Our work is not yet finished. Thanks be to God! Amen.

*Hymn 571: “Go Make of All Disciples” (vv. 1-2)
1. “Go make of all disciples:” We hear the call, O Lord,
That comes from you, our Father, In thy eternal Word.
Inspire our ways of learning Through earnest, fervent prayer,
And let our daily living Reveal you ev’rywhere.

2. “Go make of all disciples.” Baptising in the name
Of Father, Son, and Spirit From age to age the same.
We call each new disciple To follow you, O Lord,
Redeeming soul and body By water and the Word.

Act of Confirmation and Baptism

*Congregational Blessing
All: We give thanks for all that God has already given you and we welcome you in Christian love. As members together with you in the body of Christ and in this congregation of the United Methodist Church, we renew our covenant to faithfully participate in the ministries of the Church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness, that in everything, God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

*Affirmation of Faith (written by the 2023 Confirmation Class)
We believe in an eternal God that has been present since the beginning of time,
We believe that God is the creator of all things,
We believe that Jesus is God’s only Son, who died to save us from our sins,
We believe in the Holy Spirit which guides us and helps us to connect better with God,
We believe that we are all children of God who can grow closer to God by worshipping, reading the Bible, praying, loving others, and treating others with kindness.
We believe that human beings are not perfect but God loves us for who we are and forgives us for our sins. Amen.

*Hymn 572: “Pass It On”
1. It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing.
That’s how it is with God’s love.
Once you’ve experienced it,
You spread the love to everyone.
You want to pass it on.

2. What a wond’rous time is spring,
When all the tress are budding.
The birds begin to sing, the flowers start their blooming.
That’s how it is with God’s love,
Once you’ve experienced it.
You want to sing, it’s fresh like spring,
You want to pass it on.

3. I wish for you my friend
This happiness that I’ve found.
You can depend on God,
It matters not where you’re bound.
I’ll shout it from the mountaintop, “Praise God!”
I want the world to know
The Lord of Love has come to me.
I want to pass it on.

Scripture: Matthew 6:7-18

Pastoral Prayer

 The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13)
