At First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, all sixth-grade students are invited to join our Confirmation class. Confirmation is the opportunity offered for young people to “confirm” the faith handed down to them by their families as their own. We like to think of Confirmation as an opportunity for young people to get a taste of Christian life — a life of service, worship, learning, giving, praying, and playing alongside people who love them and who will follow Christ alongside them.
At the end of their Confirmation journey, confirmands will have the opportunity to answer for themselves whether this is the life they want and if they desire to be part of this community of faith. In this class, we will take 6th graders through many activities of Christian life and teach about how they came to be and why they are done that way with hands-on experiences like service projects, creative prayer activities, and diverse worship experiences.
Confirmands will also have a retreat where they will have a special opportunity to dig even deeper into the big questions and ideas that shape our faith in a way that is accessible and empowering. This year, the Fall Confirmation Retreat is happening on Saturday, October 3rd from 9 AM-3 PM in the Justin Youth Building.
Confirmation meets from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM each Sunday evening (with a few additional experiences) and is structured with a combination of small group and large group experiences to help young people make meaningful connections within Youth Ministries at FUMC Fort Worth. We’ll start with dinner in the Justin Youth Building, and then split up for confirmation class afterwards.
