How Our Youth Stole Christmas

By December 8, 2016Youth Ministries

youth-christmas-3We had a blast on Sunday night at our annual Youth Christmas Party! The Justin was covered in Grinch-themed decorations, and we had activities like brownie decorating, an ornament-making contest, a sing-a-long, and a white elephant gift exchange. Over 50 youth in tacky sweaters, onesie pajamas, and other Christmas regalia filled the Justin with what can only be described as joyful noise; needless to say, we loved getting to celebrate with so many of our teenagers! Play is a big part of what makes us who we are as a youth ministry, and we treasure opportunities where we can all just have fun together. Mike Marshall was our Grinch (green leggings and all), and did an amazing job! Our youth love knowing that our clergy want to be a part of all of the silliness and chaos that defines youth ministry (and adolescence in general). Some highlights for me were our extremely raucous rendition of “12 Days of Christmas,” Grace Burrows bringing a six-foot piece of raw sugar cane as a white elephant gift, Melanie Linguist and Rachel Muttiah’s matching Grinch pajamas, and having so many wonderful parents volunteering!
