Your Generosity Makes These Discipleship Building Activities Possible

I enjoyed lunch recently with a church member who was baptized as an infant and grew up here at FUMCFW. College, grad school and career gave her the opportunity for an east coast life experience, but she is back living in Fort Worth with her husband and children. She has also returned to her church home, proudly continuing the First Church tradition started by her maternal grandparents and her parents. Although it was in her genes to be a part of First Church as an adult, it was her experience in youth choir under the direction of Mark Burrows in the nineties that strongly influenced her decision to return with her young family. And now her children will have their own personal encounter with Mark Burrows – aka Mister Mark – as they begin their personal faith journey as part of children’s ministry.

Thanks to your generosity, children and youth ministries are providing a similar faith foundation for our younger members in a variety of ways. Earlier this year, 65 third graders received their very own Bibles and 62 sixth graders went through Confirmation. This summer, 28 youth were part of the Senior Mission Trip, 33 middle schoolers with 5 high school helpers participated in Middle School Mission Blitz, 19 youth volunteered at Camp Barnabas and 4 teens shared their gift of music as part of the summer choir trip. And then of course, 500+ children had a “rolling” good time during Vacation Bible School.

I have no doubt that among these hundreds of young lives there are future adult FUMCFW members who will return to their church home to raise their children. That makes my heart smile. Not only is your faithful and generous giving impacting young lives, but my hope is that you are also having your soul refreshed daily through First Church ministries and programs.

As we begin the second half of 2022, I am happy to share that member giving continues to be strong while expenses are trending below budget reflecting well in terms of overall operations. It is not unusual to see giving slow down in the summer months, and for that reason we encourage you to set up recurring giving if you have not already done so. For a quick reference, here is the giving link to set up a recurring gift: fumcfw.org/givenow.

You should have received your second quarterly 2022 Contribution Statement recently. If you have any questions, comments, or needs regarding your current statement, please contact our Business Office at contributions@myfumc.org or call me at 817-339-5098.

As a sidebar, do you know why Sunday is my favorite day of the week — because I will see you on Fifth Street as we come together to celebrate God’s ever-present, everlasting love.

Thank you for making First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth a growing community of faithful disciples through the sharing of your generous gifts in the name of Christ Jesus.

With a Grateful Heart,

Nancy Fisher
Director of Stewardship
