All you have to do to realize that half the year is over is to step outside in the 100+ degrees day. Yes sir it is JULY! The realization that we are now closer to the year 2022 than 2020 happens when you hear advertisements for “back to school” clothes and supplies and the Cowboys’ first preseason game happening next week! One of my friends is nearly done with her Christmas shopping!
Normally you would also know that half of the year has passed when you receive a letter from me with your second quarterly Contribution Statement. I am sure you are all sitting on the edge of your chair in anticipation of that statement. . .NOT!
Statements will not be mailed at this time. If you would like to know the status of your current giving to the 2021 Ministry Fund Stewardship Campaign or to the Next90 Phase I Campaign, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 817-339-5098. I will be happy to visit with you or send you a statement.
The Finance Committee is overseeing a $5,095,327 operating budget with the expectation that 79% ($4,032,344) will be raised through member giving. As of this writing, member giving has held steady through July but not quite close enough to meet our seven-month goal.
I greatly appreciate our church members who are participating in the 2021 Stewardship Campaign with a commitment to raise $2.36M of the $4M amount. Actual committed dollars raised to date are at $1.5M. Another noteworthy action to commend is our staff for keeping a watchful eye on expenditures and being good stewards of your financial gifts.
Giving may have slowed but ministry has not.
Thanks to your generosity, First Church’s summer programming has a familiar feel to it, reminiscent of pre-pandemic summers. True to summer mode, some of our ministries are taking summer breaks but don’t tell that to Youth Ministry or Children Ministry because they have not slowed down.
Vacation Bible School was an awesome adventure and Children’s Academy is happening every Sunday. Youth Ministry is once again an example of the “hands and feet of Christ” with mission projects happening in the way of Camp Barnabas, Middle School Mission Blitz and the High School Mission Trip. Youth Sunday School is a weekly opportunity for our youth to come together in faith while exploring their own personal discipleship development.
For our adults, in-person Sunday School has resumed and there is even a new class. Grow Bible Study on Wednesday evenings has a growing following and Wesleyan Adventurers are busy planning fun excursions.
And of course, good preaching and music happen every Sunday in 4 different worship services.
Your faithful giving makes ALL this possible! Thank you!
Again, please call if I can assist you in any way. I love catching up with you!
Wishing you a bouquet of summer blessings.
Together through Christ,
Director of Stewardship
