Wrapping Up The 2022 Season

Dear Friends,

This last Sunday, I saw several of our church members sporting purple attire. True, some of you might have consciously chosen the royal color because it was the first day of Advent and purple is the seasonal color. But my guess is that the majority of people wearing purple were showing their pride in TCU Football’s season at 12-0.

As we enter into the final month of 2022, I hope you will join me in celebrating First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth’s 2022 season as well!

Our high-scoring season began in January with the confirmation of 62 sixth graders as new members. The new member number has continued to grow with another 136 members joining throughout the year. In the spring, 65 third graders received their Bibles, and in the fall, 58 new babies and their families were introduced and celebrated during worship. The completion of the Next90 Phase I Campaign with the opening of the Baker Children’s Wing and the renovated Wesley Hall, provided plenty of mid-season excitement.

Summer was full of exciting activities that included 600 children along with youth and adult volunteers having a “rolling” good time in Vacation Bible School while older youth were examples of Christ’s love in action through mission work. Families gathered together for food trucks and Good Ol’ Fashioned Potlucks.

Fall saw the start of Youth Sunday School, Children’s Academy, UMW and more!

Our season’s final “game”, like TCU’s Big 12 Championship game this weekend, happens at the conclusion of the year with Advent:

  • Four Sundays of meaningful worship highlighted with pageantry and amazing music by Choral Union and Adoramus;
  • Family fun in the way of the Youth Christmas Party and the Polar Express Party;
  • Advent Bible Studies and the Advent Daily Devotional Podcast for personal reflection;
  • Sanctuary, Wesley Hall and hallways decked out in holiday regalia;
  • Special symbols in the way of the Chrismon Tree; and
  • Five Christmas Eve candlelight services where we celebrate the awe-inspiring birth of the Christ child.

All of this and more make the 2022 season at First United Methodist Church “one for the record books”. And the MVP award goes to you, our generous members who, through your financial gifts, make all this possible!

But I have one more request for you. Let’s finish strong like the 12-0 Horned Frogs!

Our goal has been and continues to be to raise 20% of our operating budget in the month of December. We know we can count on you because this is not our first winning season. I am asking you to continue to financially support our church, as well as prayerfully consider making an over-and-above End of Year gift along with a Christmas Offering.*

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any financial questions or thoughts.

On behalf of the pastors and lay staff, I wish to thank you for your faithful and generous giving.

Together through Christ,

Nancy Fisher
Director of Stewardship
