Talk about a wonderful way to start my work week — I just received a phone call from a church member who was looking for his 2018 Commitment Card to complete and return. He had received a postcard announcing the campaign and wanted to double-check that he had not missed the actual card. I appreciate that he is on top of it and understands the significance of participating in the 2018 Unbounded Generosity Stewardship Campaign!
Please note that many of you will be receiving an Unbounded Generosity marked envelope this week that includes not only the 2018 Commitment Card but also a letter from Dr. Bruster and a special edition of CONNECT Magazine. Our plan is also to have cards available in the Sanctuary this coming Sunday as well as at the Welcome Center and in the Business Office. Of course, you can also make your 2018 Commitment by going online to fumcfw.org/unbounded.
Here is some additional information that you may find helpful.
What happens after I turn in my Commitment to Ministry and Operating Fund card?
You should receive a note of thanks and acknowledgement that we received your Commitment Card. Your information is entered into our First Church database and we’ll update your giving record as your gifts are received.
How long is my Commitment?
This 2018 Commitment to Ministry & Operating Fund is a one-year commitment from January 1, 2018, through December 31, 2018.
May I give more than I originally committed?
You most certainly can. Any additional gifts over and above your original Commitment will be gratefully received and will be used in meeting our general operating needs unless you tell us otherwise.
Do the special seasonal offerings during Advent and Lent (second mile gifts) and other designated gifts count toward my annual Commitment?
Designated gifts, such as gifts specific to a program and ministry (i.e., First Street Methodist Mission, Kids Hope USA Mentoring, Children’s Ministries, The First Methodist Church of Fort Worth Foundation) and all “second mile” gifts are very appreciated and important, but do not count toward your annual Commitment.
What if I experience a job loss or health crisis that makes it challenging to fulfill my 2018 Commitment?
We know that “life happens.” If you are faced with a financial setback, please consider sharing as much as you are comfortable with by discussing your challenging circumstances with Larry Ammerman, Business Administrator (firstname.lastname@example.org | 817-339-3884), or Nancy Fisher, Director of Stewardship (email@example.com | 817-339-5098). Not only will this give us an opportunity to pray for better days for you; by making us aware that you may not be able to give at the level you planned to give, we will not ask any more from you except to hold you in prayer.
The Business Office has my credit card information on file for scheduled payments to fulfill my 2017 Commitment. Do I still need to complete a 2018 Commitment Card if my credit card information is the same?
Yes. We never take for granted that your Commitment is ongoing, so for budgeting purposes and to confirm your continued Commitment level, we ask that you please complete a new card each year. We also ask that you provide your credit card (or bank account information if we are drafting on your account) again each year when you turn in your Commitment Card.
May I commit and give online?
If you have any other questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org | 817-339-5098).
Thank you for your unbounded generosity!
