As we near the final countdown of 2017, our church still faces a deficit in funding that will enable a successful close to this year before we look forward to new opportunities for ministry together in 2018.
With this in mind, it is time for our faith community to come together, joining hearts and hands to meet this financial need with a special year-end gift. As of noon today, with Christmas Eve and December offerings tallied, we still have a $385,000 deficit to meet our 2017 budget.
So how can we possibly raise that kind of money with just three days remaining in 2017? I’ve seen this church do it before, and I know we can do it again. And, if each person who reads this makes a gift right now of $50 (if you’re already set up for online giving, you can simply text “50.00” to 817-241-2327) we’ll meet our goal and more!
And of course, because we know that not everyone will be able to make that $50 contribution, we ask those who can give more to help cover those who can’t. Please also remember that every little bit helps — and every donation makes you an active part of meeting this deficit.
Beyond the dollars and cents, there’s something very special that happens when we all come together in this way as a church family to put our hearts into the financial health of our church. Matthew 6:21 says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also,” and as we prayerfully consider what we treasure most about our church and its ministries over the final days of 2017, I hope that you will join with the rest of our Faith community in meeting this deficit with the heart that is one of my favorite First Church trademarks.
Wishing you and yours Grace, Peace, and a happy and healthy New Year,
Dr. Tim Bruster
