Mike Marshall751Nobody Need Wait a Single Moment

Dr. Tim Bruster

Philippians 2:1-11

Dear Friends,

The past week was a wonderful one for Jan and me. Our older son, his wife, our two grandchildren (and their two dogs) came to the Metroplex from Madison, Wisconsin to divide their time between our home and our daughter-in-law’s family. Part of the time all six of them were with us, and for certain days we could focus on one grandchild at a time. Read more.

Robert Stovall gives a quick preview of the music offering for this Sunday.

The Mimir Chamber Music Festival, a 12-day experience of five Mimir Artists concerts and two Emerging Artists concerts at TCU’s PepsiCo Recital Hall, will accent its milestone 20th anniversary season with a proud First Church tradition — a special performance by the Mimir Chamber Music Festival string quartet (Heimat String Quartet) in our 9:40 am Chapel and 11:00 am Sanctuary worship services on Sunday, July 2. Hi Summer JAM Families. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I LOVED getting to spend the week with your amazing kids. We did SO much together in just a few days. Mission projects, music and art, improv and games, Bible exploration. Read more.

Sid75Thanking the Lord for Sunshine, Children & Summertime

Sid Johnston

Throughout the halls this week at First United Methodist Church, the sound of children laughing is in abundance for various summer children’s programs. After a brief absence during the winter and spring months, summer has at long last arrived, bringing with it the return of children in the 11:00 am service each Sunday. Read more.

Len751Is Empathy at Risk of Becoming an “Endangered Species”?

Dr. Len Delony

Last week I ended my Wednesday blog reflections with a link to a TED Talk by Brene Brown on “The Power of Vulnerability.” Sunday I was intrigued by Tim Bruster’s sermon “Rest for the Weary”, and looked up a book he mentioned by Nicholas Carr entitled “The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains.” Read more.

Charme Robarts

For whatever reason summertime brings up visions of nice lazy days of reading. Maybe choosing a new book from the best seller list, maybe returning to an old favorite, or diving into one of those books you were supposed to read in college! (I still haven’t read War and Peace.) Read more.
