Disciple Bible Study Class

September 28 – November 16*
Wednesdays | 6:00 – 7:30 pm | Room 340 – 341
Led by Brian Eaton | Registration required | Book available for $16

Explore the writings of the New Testament using the story of Jesus as the starting point. “Invitation to the New Testament” by David deSilva and Emerson B. Powery looks at how the early church took ownership of and was shaped by the story of Jesus and how the church learned to develop as disciples and create communities of faith. You will find a deeper conversation with the writers of the New Testament and a renewal of our commitment to be shaped — personally and communally — by the story of Jesus. In the weekly video segments, listen as scholars fascinate you with facts and information that open new understanding and enlightenment, and sit in on table conversations between guest scholars. This informative Bible study will be led by Brian Eaton. Brian is a CPA from Fort Worth, and he and his wife Felecia have been very active members of FUMCFW for many years. Brian has taught a variety of Sunday School and other informative classes at First Church. He has an MTS from Brite Divinity School (TCU).

*Churchwide Community Dinner will not be available until October 12

Wednesdays | 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Foundation Building, 2nd Floor
Led by Rev. Phyllis Barren

Divorce is one of the most difficult experiences that most people will ever face. Even the most amicable of divorces can create intense emotional and psychological issues which may have lasting effects if they are not given attention. The good news is that there is help for facing the challenges that divorce brings. This six-week series will use the book “Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends,” featuring divorce process rebuilding blocks, a proven 19-step process for putting one’s life back together after divorce. This widely used approach to divorce recovery makes the process healthier and less traumatic for those who are going through a divorce. The focus will be on gaining insights into facing the experience of divorce and offering time for participants to process their current experience in a supportive setting. Rev. Phyllis Barren is an ordained United Methodist minister who also holds a Masters in Psychology and is an LPC-I. This series is free and open to members and non-members of FUMCFW. If you would like a copy of the book, you may purchase it in advance in the Main Office or at the first class. For more information, contact Rev. Phyllis Barren ( at 817-339-5082.
