In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner,
you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus,
that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
It may not seem very original to discuss ‘giving’ or ‘thanks’ during the month of November when we celebrate Thanksgiving. But this blog about both involves a slightly different thought process. Not only do we thank donors who contribute to the Foundation. We also receive messages of gratitude from members throughout the years to recognize the Foundation’s support of the Church.
I’ve taken the liberty of including a few at the end of this column, not to show off, but to illuminate the various ways that the Foundation contributes to the health and mission of our beloved Church, past, present, and future. The comments reflect how we strive to be present within the congregation in many ways.
1. First, we are servants. Our leadership is present among Church leadership in many areas of Church life. It involved foundation leadership in committees, sharing responsibilities, and is ready to speak to Sunday classes or send information to those thirsty for knowledge.
2. We are planners. Every day we work diligently, planning for the future. We find the best investment vehicles for monetary gifts bestowed to the Foundation and entrusted to us by faithful Church members. This is a task that we take to heart. The donor’s trust inspires our diligent care as we determine the best financial plans that will benefit the Church and its members in small ways and significant ways.
3. We are stewards of Foundation assets, and the Foundation works on investments and ongoing financial management year-round. That way, funding is available when needs arise, and such financial support is for today and tomorrow, in perpetuity.
4. We are communicators. We provide a bounty of information that anticipates questions and inquiries about how the Foundation works. That info is available by contacting Sid Johnston or Lindsay Geiser at the Foundation office.
All our efforts focus on the well-being and comfort of Church members, especially when daily life becomes a struggle. It just felt right to remind fellow Church members of this at this time.
I think of this as a time of Thanksgiving Back. Because of the generosity of our donors, we become grateful servants, planners, managers, and communicators who show appreciation through involvement and dedication to our Church in many ways. We want to give back to members who have dedicated their money and time to assist us in making our Foundation solid and strong. We are all together in the quest to support the Church financially.
Your Foundation is committed to being an unwavering beacon of support to the Church, not just at Thanksgiving when everyone focuses on giving, but all year-round. If you need assistance, comfort, knowledge, or just a helping hand in a difficult time, the Foundation is here to support the Church and congregation. Happy ThanksgivingBack 2021! This is our pledge of support and giving to the Church.
