SUMMARY:Family Good Friday Service
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 3\, 2026\n5:30 pm | Dinner | Third Floor\n6:15 pm | Worship | Wesley Hall\n“What Would Mister Rogers Tell Us?” \nSo often\, after a challenging event or during a challenging time\, I find myself asking\, “What does Mister Rogers have to say about this?” And then I go find out. I look for video clips\, I read his biographies\, I research articles from the Fred Rogers Institute. \nOver and over\, his words have been a tremendous source of inspiration and encouragement\, especially during those times when I truly wonder if I have what it takes to help others through hard things. \nFrom that gentle soul\, and ordained Presbyterian minister\, we learn: \n• To “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”\n• “Anything mentionable can be made more manageable.”\n• “The only thing evil can’t stand is forgiveness.” \nThis Good Friday\, we will explore the story of the day Jesus died\, but in a slightly different way. We will invite Mister Rogers to share his words of comfort\, kindness\, and love so that we can have a deeper understanding of the beautiful\, hard thing Jesus did that night. And so we can walk away heartened to face the beautiful\, hard things that are part of our own human experience.

SUMMARY:Lenten Labyrinth
DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, February 22\, March 8\, & March 22\, 2026\n9:00 am – 12:15 pm\nWesley Hall\nWalk the Labyrinth in Wesley Hall \nStep away from the noise.\nSlow your pace.\nRelease what weighs you down. \nYou are invited to Wesley Hall to walk the Labyrinth—a sacred prayer practice used by the church for centuries. In a fast-paced world filled with anxiety\, resentment\, judgment\, and the need for control\, the labyrinth offers a gentle path toward stillness\, surrender\, and renewal. \nThere is no right or wrong way to walk. Simply follow the path\, breathe deeply\, and allow God to meet you where you are. Bring your questions\, burdens\, and hopes—or come with nothing at all. This is a space to let go and listen. \nWalk at your own pace\nPray in silence or with Scripture\nRelease what no longer serves your spirit \nCome as you are.\nLeave lighter than you arrived.

SUMMARY:Bundles of Hope Community Baby Shower
DESCRIPTION:February 8 | Pick up list of items needed\nMarch 1 | Drop off items\n9:00 am – 12:00 pm\nWesley Hall\nFirst Church is hosting Bundles of Hope\, a community baby shower in partnership with JPS Health Network\, to support mothers\, babies\, and young children from newborn to 4 years old. \nThis joyful event is our way of surrounding families with love\, dignity\, and practical support during critical early stages of life. \nWhat Is Bundles of Hope?\nBundles of Hope is not a traditional baby shower—it is a collective act of compassion. Together\, we will gather essential items and assemble age-specific gift bundles that will be distributed through the JPS Mom & Baby Program. \nEach bundle represents care\, encouragement\, and the promise that these families are not alone. \nHow You Can Participate\nBring a gift for one of the age-specific bundles\n(Newborn\, Infant\, Toddler\, Preschool\, or Mom Care) \nSponsor a full bundle or donate individual items\nServe on the day of the shower by helping organize and prepare bundles\nPray for the mothers and children who will receive these gifts \nWhy This Matters\nYour generosity helps provide:\nSafe beginnings for newborns\nDevelopmental support for growing children\nRecovery and care for mothers \nWhen we come together\, small gifts become powerful expressions of hope. \nLet us shower our community with love—one bundle at a time.

However\, we anticipate a need to replenish supplies as recovery continues. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) assists victims of disasters all over the world. UMCOR collects hygiene\, school\, and cleaning kits for distribution within the United States. These supplies enable people to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up after a flood or hurricane. \nBuckets and supplies will be collected from September 21 –  October 12 for the United Methodist Relief-Supply Warehouses across the United States. \nImportant notes\n• All items must be new with the exception of the bucket and lid.\n• All cleaning agents must be liquid form. No powders are accepted.\n• If items have been omitted\, label bucket. Please indicate which items are missing.\n• Sponges have been removed from the list of supplies due to the challenge of locating the non-cellulose sponges that prevent mildew. Non-cellulose sponges will be added to each bucket upon arrival at the affiliate warehouse.\n• Do not include any personal notes\, money or additional material in the kits.\n• Contents of kits or the containers of kits should not be imprinted with cartoon characters\, advertisements\, religious\, patriotic\, military or camouflage symbols. \nGoal: Prepare 500 Emergency Response Buckets. \n•Rev. Brenda is working with the conference office to take a team to assist in the cleanup process. If you are interested in participating\, please send an email to Rev.
