Join us as we explore the fascinating first centuries of the Jesus movement and discover how a small group of followers grew into a global faith. Together we’ll examine the questions and controversies that shaped the early church\, the Jewish roots that continue to ground our worship\, the often-overlooked voices of women in the movement\, and the wide variety of texts that circulated among early communities. We’ll also trace the centuries-long process by which the New Testament we know today came to be. Come with your curiosity\, your questions\, and your own faith story. Dr. Jenn Pick\nRegistration Requested\nA garden. A flood. A tower. Long lists of names. Genesis opens with eleven chapters that happen before anything we would call history\, and they are stranger than most of us were taught. \nNobody eats an apple. Nobody loses a rib. There are two creation accounts\, and they do not agree with each other\, and the flood gets told twice by two different hands. None of that is a problem to fix. It is a clue about who was writing\, when\, and what they needed these stories to do. \nWe will read slowly and out loud. We will also ask what later readers have laid on top of these chapters\, because those readings still shape who gets blamed\, who gets welcomed\, and who gets to lead. \nGeared toward Eleven:Eleven folks who are ready for deep conversation. If you have never cracked open a Bible in your life\, you are not behind. Bring your questions. \nNo homework. Bring a Bible\, and if you do not have one\, we will put one in your hands. \nContacts: Kagan & Jenn \n  \nRegister\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Phone*Email*\n \n Do you need a Bible?*\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n CAPTCHA\n Submit URL:https://fumcfw.org/event/beginnings26/2026-10-06/ LOCATION:Library 147 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://fumcfw.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/In-the-Beginnings-1111-Bible-Study_EV.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20260614T090000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20260614T123000 DTSTAMP:20260520T194033Z CREATED:20260520T194033Z LAST-MODIFIED:20260520T194033Z UID:10036648-1781427600-1781440200@fumcfw.org SUMMARY:Give Kids the World Informational Meeting DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 14\, 2026\n9:00 – 9:30 am & 12:00 – 12:30 pm\nThe Library\nJoin us for an informational meeting for Give Kids the World\, set for September 13 – 19\, 2026. This semester\, we’ll be diving into the bold and beautiful story of Esther. In a world that often tries to quiet women’s voices\, Esther reminds us that God speaks powerfully through women’s courage\, wisdom\, and everyday faithfulness. Together\, we’ll explore how God works through our ordinary lives. \nThis study is a space for honest conversation\, laughter\, prayer\, and support as we listen for God’s call in our own stories. Come as you are—tired\, hopeful\, overwhelmed\, curious—and find strength in Scripture and in one another. We’ll meet weekly on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. in the church library. This study is for all the women who want to know what faithfulness looks like in perilous times. We will be doing this by looking at the women of Exodus. For too long biblical womanhood has felt like a cookie-cutter vision of a 1950’s sitcom that never existed in real life. We can look back to our biblical role-models and see resistance\, strength\, collaboration\, truth-telling\, wit\, and justice springing forth from the stories that are rarely told\, much less linked to our lives in the 21st century. Whether you know lots about the Bible or nothing\, we’d love for you to come and join us as we find our strength and voices together. No need to bring anything but yourselves. \nRegister\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phone*\n Submit URL:https://fumcfw.org/event/moms25/2025-11-20/ LOCATION:Library 147 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://fumcfw.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Moms-Bible-Study_25_EV.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20250903T090000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20250903T100000 DTSTAMP:20250827T191105Z CREATED:20250818T181709Z LAST-MODIFIED:20250827T191105Z UID:10034363-1756890000-1756893600@fumcfw.org SUMMARY:Boo Hoo Woo Hoo Parent's Prayer Breakfast DESCRIPTION:September 2 & 3\, 2025\n9:00 – 10:00 am\nChurch Library | Free!\nWhether you are going to shed a happy or a sad tear\, come and join us to kick off the new school year!
