Thing Three — Thank you for a wonderful Children First service yesterday. Below is our Theme, Memory Verse, and Bible Story for October.
Have a great week!
Theme: Fear vs. Faith
Memory Verse: Hebrews 11:1 — Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for,
the conviction of things not seen.
Bible Story: Jesus Calms the Storm [Matthew 8:23-27]
Fear is a powerful emotion. If we’re not careful, we can let it control our actions and our state of mind. The best antidote to fear isn’t courage. It’s faith.
Faith isn’t about believing bad things can’t happen to us. It’s about knowing that when bad things do happen, God is right there to help us through it.
Or as the story illustrates — Jesus is right there in the boat with us.
Holy Conversations: What is something that scares you? How does knowing God is right there with you help when you’re scared? Remember, you can always pray.[Something that helps me is reciting a Bible verse over and over. One of my favorites when I’m scared is Joshua 1:9 — Do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.]
