Thanks for Helping Make Homeownership a Reality

By October 13, 2016Outreach

Fall Habitat_HSHabitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope — for a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Habitat offers a hand up (not a hand out) to hardworking families who, due to skyrocketing home prices, might have only dreamed of home ownership otherwise. Habitat partner families, whose income levels are between 30 and 60 percent of the median, qualify on the basis of need, ability to make mortgage payments that average between $450 – $550 monthly (including taxes and insurance), and willingness to partner with the Habitat program. Habitat homes are affordable because of volunteer labor, donated funds, and materials.

Internationally, Habitat has served more than 40 years, 800,000 homes, and 4 million people. Locally, FUMCFW participated in four Fall Fellowship Builds in the Carver Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth. See below for a thank-you note from Trinity Habitat for Humanity for our continued support.

tamika-family-parkDear FUMCFW,

We want to thank you for your gift of $5,000 given on September 12, 2016. We are grateful for all of our wonderful supporters and volunteers who are the foundation of every home we build and preserve.

Your gift helps hardworking people like Tamika. In 2002, she purchased and moved into a new Habitat home with her children, finding stability and room to grow. Tamika married, had a baby, and found a good job. Tamika’s children are now thriving in their favorite sports and activities.

Tamika’s husband passed away in early 2012, shortly before Tamika paid off her home. With her lower monthly bills, Tamika has chosen to become a stay-at-home mom working part-time. “I still applaud Trinity Habitat for helping me to have a Habitat home,” Tamika shared. “It has made such a positive difference for me and my family.”

With your generosity, we are able to make homeownership a reality for our partner families. We appreciate your support and confidence.

Sincerely,

Trinity Habitat for Humanity
