Thank You for Stepping Up

I will soon complete my fourth year on the staff of FUMCFW and I am forever grateful for the daily opportunity to shepherd our Stewardship Ministry. And just when I think this job cannot get any better, once again you – my fellow disciples – STEP UP!

Thanks to you, First Church will finish 2020 financially solid and where we need to be! We appreciate you for your faithfulness, discipleship, and love. It is your enthusiasm that motivates our clergy and staff every day, inspiring them to provide innovative and engaging ministries that Love God, Serve People, and Transform Lives.

Many of you have shared that the Christmas Eve Drive-In service was amazing. I was brought to happy tears as I also heard the joy in the voices of staff as they did a follow-up assessment of the event. Our pre-recorded online service with DFW Brass and a special candle montage video was viewed 10,515 times between Facebook, YouTube and the website landing page. Member participation was beyond our expectations, not to mention who would have thought honking the car horn could be so meaningful on Christmas Eve!

It was your giving that made these Christmas Eve celebrations possible — and unforgettable!

I also appreciate those of you who made additional end-of-year gifts specific to the 2020 Ministry Fund to bring us to a positive financial finale. I realize that for some this was indeed a sacrificial gift given intentionally, over and above other personal, pressing needs. We are so appreciative.

On behalf of the clergy and staff, I say thank you for your unbounded generosity and your endorsement of why we are brought together as a downtown community of faith – to share the Good News of the transformative and all-inclusive love of God as revealed through Jesus Christ.

Like you, I am ready for 2021. I know that there will continue to be COVID-19 challenges, but I am also very confident that together we will handle these issues with grace and resolve, resulting in far more blessings, joy, and thankfulness.

Because of you, I am excited, optimistic, and looking forward to what is to come in the next 12 months as we minister together at First Church.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Nancy Fisher
