Dear First Church Friends,
They worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem overwhelmed with joy. ~Luke 24:52
Of course, First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth is not Jerusalem, but certainly there is overwhelming joy within these sacred walls!
One of our long-time members who had not attended in-person worship for the last year shared that as she walked through the doors on a recent Sunday, she teared up for joy. She was not alone in her enthusiasm. Whether they were attending The Gathering or the Sanctuary service, everyone had smiling eyes peeking out from their masks as they patiently checked in and located their assigned seats.
Later in the spring and summer, individuals will come together again in DiscipleChurch, eleven:eleven, Vacation Bible School, and several other church activities. Thanks to all who are making our transition back to “having people in the pews” so easy!
I am happy to share the following Stewardship Ministry highlights:
• End of the year giving to the 2020 Ministry Fund was strong, resulting in a slight surplus at yearend.
• Unrestricted giving to the First Street Methodist Mission increased by 61% over 2019 making it possible to meet the COVID-driven demand for Grocery Services and Financial Assistance.
• The 2021 Stewardship Campaign currently has 427 households participating with $2.3M in commitments. Commitment cards continue to come in, and we have received 40% of the committed amount at the time of this letter writing.
• Next90 giving is also on track with 56% of the committed dollars of $5.4M being received.
Numbers are good to know and review, but more significant is what is truly happening because of your faithful generosity. Thanks to you, First Church is growing God’s Kingdom by providing vibrant ministries of wonderful worship, inspirational music and arts, engaging children and youth ministries, enlightening Bible studies, and life-changing mission opportunities! Not only are you transformed through your relationship with Christ, but many others are experiencing their own transformation.
By now you have received or will soon receive your 2021 first quarter Contribution Statement either by email or through the USPS which reflects your most recent 2021 giving activity as of March 31. Should you have any questions regarding your giving, please contact the Business Office at email@example.com.
On a personal note, it is a joy to be in community with you, and I look forward to seeing you soon. I wish you a joyful awareness of the many blessings in your life.
