Room in the Inn (RITI) is a life-changing ministry for both our guests and our volunteers. RITI is more than just a hot meal, a hot shower, and clean sheets for our unsheltered guests — although those things are pretty awesome when you have no home. RITI is a place of friendship and belonging — a heartwarming and soul-warming time for our guests and FUMCFW volunteers to spend together. We serve lots of home-cooked meals, but we also offer a listening ear and some shared laughter which is soothing to those who are facing the challenges of being homeless.
Our RITI church volunteers tell us that they are changed for the better after getting to share a meal and stories with our 14 male guests each week. Eating or playing dominoes together, or just sitting and sharing family or faith stories, is guaranteed to touch your heart. Everything from doing the laundry to providing dessert to making the beds is important to this ministry.
I hope that you will consider joining our team. Call me at 817/335-6080 (Ext. 105) for more information, or come to our Room in the Inn Volunteer Training on May 26 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm in the Justin Building. I love working RITI with our sweet volunteers and guests, and I know you will too!
Thank you — come and join us!
