Sand Dollar

Hand your child the sand dollar.

Say:

A sand dollar is a flat sea urchin. This is its skeleton.
The sand dollar is fragile, so hold it very gently.

God’s hands are powerful, yet God holds you gently and tenderly.

Listen to this passage from Psalm 18, verse 35 –

You have given me the shield of your salvation,
and your right hand has supported me;
your help
has made me great.

Now let’s sit in silence. Hold the sand dollar and wonder at God’s powerful hands, holding you gently.

[After a few moments of silence, pray]

Prayer:

Loving God,
Your powerful hands have made mountains and seas.
Yet you hold us gently and tenderly.
Help us to have the hands to hold your world
As gently as you do.
Amen.

[The sand dollar can now go in the box.]
