Sending You an Irish Blessing

A year ago last week, the very difficult but very right decision was made to stop in-person worship and church activities as a pro-active life-saving step in dealing with COVID-19. This first time ever occurrence was approached with uncertainty, but thanks to our long history of having a strong media and communication aptitude, the clergy, staff, and volunteers made swift attitude and technical adjustments to provide immediate livestreaming of all happenings.

The expectation was that this atypical way of ministry would last at least two weeks and possibly longer. The thought that virtual gatherings could possibly extend into fall was not talked about. But here we are a year later, and virtual First Church continues to be the primary attendance option for our members.

Talk to any staff and they will admit it has been a phenomenal experience because of our congregation!! Your continued enthusiasm and your embracing of the current reality are further bolstered by your faithfulness in your generosity. Thank you!!

First Church’s ministries are strong and vibrant. We are so grateful for you every day! I count you among my daily blessings.

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, I leave you with this Irish blessing to carry in your heart:

May your days be many and your troubles few.
May all of God’s blessing descend upon you.
May peace be within you making your heart strong.
May you find daily joyful awareness of Christ all lifelong.

Together through Christ,

Nancy Fisher
Director of Stewardship
