When I began as Director of Welcoming Ministries, the UMW ladies were so incredibly supportive and hosted many of our Garden gatherings — which ultimately led to the launch of Connections, our opportunity to visit with one another, rain or shine, between services in Wesley Hall. (And in the Garden as well when the weather is nice!) This wonderful group of women embody welcoming in everything they do — and trust me, they make meaningful fun contagious.
But what I think many people don’t know about this extraordinary group is their commitment to the service and support of women, youth, and children in need within our community and church. Last year, they raised more than $42,000 for FUMCFW Children’s Ministries, Kids Hope, Food 4 Kids, VBS at FUMCFW, Methodist Justice Ministry, TCU Wesley, Methodist Children’s Home, and United Community Centers.
That’s why I am marking my calendar right now for Tuesday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 6, so that I can attend Journey Through Faith, the 37th Annual FUMCFW UMW Fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit organizations for women, youth, and children — and it’s a delightful way to spend an afternoon, evening, or both!
The April 5 event includes dinner, auction, and host for the evening Mr. Chet Garner, creator, executive producer, writer, editor, and host of the five-time Emmy award-winning show “The Daytripper.” On April 6,those in attendance will enjoy a luncheon and raffle, as well as guest speaker Mrs. Donna VanLiere, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author.
Tickets are available every Sunday in the Welcome Center now through March 20, at the UMW general meeting on Tuesday, March 1, and online.
Hope to see you there!
