“Ryan has been a joy and a blessing to us and to our congregation. His wonderful attributes that we have all come to know are reasons we love him and will deeply miss him.”
— Peggy Graff, Assistant Director of Music & Worship Arts and Organist
Ryan Mansfield, Director of Audio/Visual Services, is leaving FUMCFW to join St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano. St. Andrew is closer to home and family for Ryan, his wife Darla, and their son Anthony. Although we will miss Ryan and all that he brings to our church, we wish him the best of luck in his new church home.
Ryan’s background was originally in theater, but he took a chance on an opening at FUMCFW that took his career in a new direction. Three years later, he is grateful for the experiences and relationships he’s gained from working here. “All of my memories that I have are ones that I hold dear to my heart, and they’ve all been great,” Ryan recalls.
From Youth Choir to Children First services, to Wednesday’s worship rehearsals and quick visits with Dr. Smith, Ryan will always remember the fun times he had here. “I think the most important thing I’ve learned from working at a church is that everybody is just so nice,” he adds. “There are no egos, and everyone is willing to pitch in and help.”
Ryan has made vast improvements in the audio/visual area of the church, including renovating the sound and lighting in the Sanctuary and adding a new console in Wesley Hall. However, he says he feels like the most important thing he’ll leave behind is his replacement, Sam Spofford. Ryan describes Sam as a good person who really cares about what he does. “He puts his all into everything he does and cares so much about it that success is the only option,” Ryan attests. He is confident that Sam will be a great fit with the FUMCFW staff and community. In addition, the church was able to hire Austin Patton, who has been working in our eleven:eleven service, as a part-time member of our church A/V Services staff. Austin has a great deal of professional experience in audio/visual services and has been an integral part of our eleven:eleven service for several years. As we continue to expand our A/V Services and greet new opportunities, Austin Patton and Gary Sladek will continue to provide part-time A/V and video editing support.
Please join us in saying farewell to Ryan, and welcoming Sam and Austin into our church home. We’re sad to see Ryan go, but we’re thankful that he’s passing the torch to Sam and Austin and leaving us with a legacy that is sure to last.
