We wanted to re-send this email about Children First. I can’t wait to see all of you on Sunday!
Two Quick Things about Sunday:
Thing One — Children First is THIS Sunday at 9:45 in the sanctuary. Our theme is — Prayer. It was one of our most-requested themes for the year.
Thing Two — The Cowtown Marathon is this weekend.
After several staff members actually drove the routes, and made several phone calls to the Cowtown office, here are the most promising routes to and from church on Sunday. See you Sunday!
The first race is to begin at 7:00 am, with 7 more waves of runners starting every five minutes after that. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA AROUND WILL ROGERS MEMORIAL CENTER. The Half Marathon and Marathon and other events begin and end at Will Rogers, so there will be significant traffic in that area. Lancaster Ave. will be full of runners from going from downtown back to the Will Rogers Memorial Center, therefore blocking Henderson, Summit and University, so you may need to adjust your regular route and/or allow a bit more travel time. The best way to get to FUMCFW on Sunday is:
From the West: Get on I–30 eastbound, exit on Cherry St and that will take you straight to the church.
From the East: Get on I–30 westbound, exit on University, make a U-turn back onto I-30 eastbound and exit on Cherry St, and that will take you straight to the church.
From the South: Get on I-30 eastbound at any point west of Forest Park and exit on Cherry St, and that will take you straight to the church. If you live near Southside (Berkley, Fairmount, Mistletoe Heights) avoid driving on Forest Park south of Park Place. 8th Ave will be blocked by the course but if you are patient, officers will let cars through as there are breaks between runners.
From the North: Get on I-35W southbound, exit I-30 eastbound, exit on University, make a U-turn back onto I-30 westbound and exit on Cherry St, and that will take you straight to the Church.
Leaving FUMCFW: Go out Macon Street to access I-30 westbound. To go east or north, go 5th Street west to Forest Park Boulevard, turn left and proceed to eastbound on I-30.
