(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows

higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

We all have loved ones we carry in our hearts. Why not share how special they are to us? UMW’s theme for 2016 – 2017 Luncheons & Programs is “Sacred Spaces.” So far this season we have explored sacred places, a sacred space for learning and growing, sacred hymns — and next we’ll explore sacred art. And now, with the holidays fast approaching, we’re opening the sacred spaces in our hearts to remember those who will always be with us.

Amber Shive, 2017 Special Event Co-Chair, says that collecting Memorials and Honorariums is one of her favorite parts of UMW’s annual spring fundraiser. “I have had the incredible opportunity to get to learn about some of the most influential people who have impacted the lives of our UMW members and our FUMCFW community,” Amber adds. “Memorials are a meaningful way to honor the memory of a loved one, and Honorariums are a unique way to recognize a special person in your life or commemorate a special event (birth, wedding, anniversary, etc.). We often reflect on these events and people around the holidays, and designating a Memorial or Honorarium for them is a tremendous way to pay tribute to them.”

UMW will begin gathering Memorials and Honorariums at its December Luncheon. Please join us in remembering all the sacred people in our lives through our gifts.
