Praying Always and Mindful Living

Len Delony1“Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

— Jesus, Luke 10:42

“Direct your eye right inward, and you’ll find a thousand regions in your mind yet undiscovered. Travel them, and be expert in home-cosmography.”

— Henry David Thoreau

“Love is what and who you are, in your deepest essence.”

— Richard Rohr

“Mindful awareness can be considered as a way of being, more than something that involves our “doing” . . . How we pay attention (different from awareness), on purpose (an ongoing intention more than effort) to the unfolding of present moment experience (but, in fact, we can pay attention to memories of the past or plans for the future) with a sense alertness, attention to detail, and with kindness and compassion.”

— Dr. Daniel Siegel

Throughout the centuries, there has been a wisdom about the ways of knowing. In our present time, meditation that is often called “mindfulness” can help open us to that wisdom way of knowing.

Within the Christian tradition, Mary’s “better part” is experienced by being fully present to Jesus. Paul speaks of “the mind of Christ” in us all (1 Corinthians 2:16). In our time, through new tools of science, we have amazing studies that can help us become more intentional about that “good part” that connects us with what cannot be taken away because it shapes and molds who we are . . . in the way of love, that we know in and through Christ.

Grace and peace be with you on the journey,
