Your participation in FUMC Fort Worth makes you an essential piece of a historic movement. A solid rock in the foundation of our city, our church proclaims the good news of the Gospel across the ages. Being a part of FUMCFW means being a part of something grand, something bigger than ourselves, something that stands the test of time and the whims of the seasons. Being a part of FUMCFW is something to celebrate!
This Sunday, we will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the groundbreaking for our historic sanctuary and church facilities. While FUMCFW can claim many addresses and buildings in its history, our 5th St. location provides the most notable home for our timeless testimony and our enduring ministry. Generations of our faith family were baptized, lived, served, and were memorialized within these sacred spaces, and Sunday is a time to revel in their memory, to celebrate our present, and to imagine our faithful future.
To commemorate this anniversary, we will have “all-church” worship in the sanctuary at both the 9:30 am and 11 o’clock hours. Leaders from each of our worship communities will come together for a special service that highlights all the aspects that make our church so diverse and special. Wesley Hall displays from our archives will give you a chance to walk through the history of our church, and a classic car show on 5th St. will give you a first-hand view of the decades that have passed as our church continues its ministry. We’ll also have many dressed up and showing off their vintage church attire — I hope you join in the fun and showcase some of your favorites from days gone by. (Amazon informed me my wife secured some lace gloves and a pillbox hat for the celebration.)
This Sunday is a one-time-only celebration of our church’s history, present, and bright future. Don’t miss it!
I’ll see you Sunday,
Senior Associate Pastor
