On The Road Again

Post-Covid has all of us thinking about what we missed out on last summer. For many of us it was TRAVEL: Family getaways, destination weddings, special celebrations, annual jaunts, family reunions!

I hope you are “On the Road Again” (Willie Nelson). Are you “California Dreamin” (The Mama’s and the Papa’s) and “Leaving on a Jet Plane”(John Denver)? Maybe you are the more adventurous type and catching a “Midnight Train to Georgia”(Gladys Knight) or going “Where the Streets Have No Name”(U2).

(OK, I know that was corny, but humor me…)

Wherever and however you are traveling this summer, I wish you lots of sunshine, laughter, and relaxation!

One thing we all know well by now is that no matter where you land for your summer adventures, you can have First Church along with you. Slowing down to hear the inspiring Sunday message or singing a sacred hymn along with the choir may be the perfect downtime and relaxing activity that fits nicely into your vacation plans.

Many of you also have already embraced the discipleship of giving online. Thank you!

This blog serves as my annual reminder letting you know that we count on your giving during the summer months. First Church ministries remain active, and yet, it is a well-known fact that church giving drops during the months of June, July, and August. We can reverse that trend with your thoughtfulness.

Just as we made it easy for you to stay connected to FUCMFW through our online opportunities, we have also made it easy for you to continue your giving when you’re away from home:

  • For Online Giving, visit fumcfw.org/givenow.
  • Give through our mobile ShelbyNext App. Learn more here on how to download the app to your smartphone or smart tablet.
  • Text your gift to 817-241-2327 (You must either be set up for online giving or have the ShelbyNext App to use this option, but once you do, it’s a snap!)

If I can be of any assistance, please email me at nfisher@myfumc.org or give me a call at 817-339-5098.

Once you are “Homeward Bound”(Simon & Garfunkel), we look forward to seeing you in your favorite pew or in your favorite fellowship group because after all, “Home Is Where the Heart Is”(Lady A). And you are the very heart of FUMCFW where God’s love overflows!

Safe travels and Godspeed!
