New Book Study on Christian Mindfulness

Announcing a New Book Study on Christian Mindfulness as A Way to Improve Your “Eyes That See” — Come join us!

In the Preface of a new, weekly book study we will begin next Wednesday, January 20th, Marjorie Thompson writes about a series of “magic eye” pictures that became popular in the 1990’s. I have always enjoyed them because it was a fun way to practice shifting my eyes’ perspective, and suddenly (or eventually) I would be surprised by an emerging or deepening 3-D image that was just waiting there to be discovered. But even more important to me, however, is that “magic” or “soft” eyes are still a wonderful analogy for how the spiritual practices of Christian Mindfulness can help us make new discoveries. (I even asked our dedicated librarians at our FUMC FW church library to get one of these books about 10 years ago.)

No matter how chaotic things might seem, as we let go of our anxious, objectifying perspectives, and as we open our perspective to experience God’s grace through “soft eyes” and Christian Mindfulness, something miraculous happens. Putting on the mind and eyes of Christ, we can discover with a deep awareness, that God is in our midst, showing us visions of hope for good, and inviting us to join in and support God’s beloved, healing community. We discover anew that we are created in God’s image, and called to participate in God’s on-going, New Creation.

Come join us for the new book study about Christian Mindfulness and how such spiritual practice can help us have soulful eyes to see and even ears of the heart to hear the sacred, soul-stories in all our shared, faith-journeys.

Here is a link to the book.
But don’t worry if you can’t get a copy or have time to read, come join us for soul-sharing and support.
