My Moment with Mike and What I Really Wanted to Say

If you have seen this week’s Moment with Mike, “bless your heart” for having to endure me towards the end of the segment.

Like many of you, I love watching Moment with Mike every week. Each episode is engagingly funny and very newsworthy. Mike makes it look so easy!

I asked if I could join him on this week’s segment to give a brief Stewardship Campaign update coupled with my appreciation. Being the good guy, Mike said a welcoming “yes.”

I had gone over in my head what I wanted to say . . . but when the time came, I was a mess . . . stumbling over words and phrases, rambling and repeating words and then repeating them again. Let’s just say it wasn’t a stellar moment for me, prompting this quick blog.

I can now say with less embarrassment and with humor, “Mike and Paul, Bless Your Heart” and thank you for your kindness and support. For the sake of the MWM’s ratings, I will be sticking to one-on-one encounters, personal notes, and blogs.”

For you my friends, here is the message I wanted to convey:

My heartfelt thanks to all who have returned their 2020 IMAGINE Annual Commitment Card. Because of your intentional and generous actions, we have reached 80% of our commitment goal of $2,750,000.00.

For those of you who have not made a 2020 financial commitment, I am asking for your help in achieving 100% of the goal. Please pick up a card from the Welcome Center or make your commitment online.

Thanks to you — and because of your financial generosity — it is easy to imagine what is ahead for First Church in the upcoming year: continued growth of an energized faith community, inspiring and thought-provoking worship options for our diverse membership, dynamic children and youth ministries for our youngest disciples in training, and a multitude of life-changing opportunities to serve as the hands and feet of Christ in our world.

Your continued generosity makes it possible for First Church to provide the ministries that encourage our practice of spiritual disciplines as we strive to live a more Christ-like life.

Also, if you have not already picked up your IMAGINE Journal, our small token of appreciation for your 2020 financial commitment, please stop by the Welcome Center this Sunday.

Again, thank you. See you on Sunday!

Together through Christ,

Nancy Fisher
Director of Stewardship
