“the labyrinth of our stories” featuring Jay Stailey
Author, Storyteller, Humorist & International Labyrinth Builder
What really matters in your own life?
What nourishes your soul?
What helps you listen for and experience what is healing and awakens a passion for living?
What inspires you to live your life in response to a deeper calling?
On Sunday August 16 at our eleven:eleven celebration — and in a special mini-retreat immediately following — we invite you to join us to consider how we will live into these questions. As part of the contemplative offering, we will explore our understanding of the labyrinth — an ancient prayer path that offers new perspective on taking this transformative journey of the heart.
We’ll start with the eleven:eleven celebration, and then at noon we’ll share in a simple meal. Afterward, FUMCFW Prayer and Spiritual Formation Ministries and eleven:eleven Special Guest Jay Stailey will offer a special writing workshop (“your labyrinth story”) that will include an opportunity to walk our labyrinth (modeled on the one built at Chartres Cathedral in the 1200’s). We’ll finish the labyrinth walk at about 3:00 pm, but our shared commitment to learning to listen with the ears of the heart will go on forever. Suggested donation for lunch and workshop is $20.
A highly sought after consultant, educator and storyteller and the former Chair of the National Storytelling Network in Tennessee, Jay is also an “activist” in Labyrinth design and community education, as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Downtown in the Department of Urban Education.
