Do you remember how our Christmas Festival was iced out the second Sunday of Advent? Do you remember our Advent theme, Christmas Inside Out? Do you remember that on the final Sunday in Advent we looked at Christmas “Outside the Holidays?” The good news of Christmas cannot be held inside of a part of the year called “the holidays,” rather the coming of Jesus that we celebrate at Christmas is both good news and a challenging message around which we order our lives outside the holidays.
Well, here we are, outside the holidays and still very much celebrating the central message of Christmas. This Sunday will be a very special time of worship in the sanctuary at 9:30 and 11:00 am. The Choral Union and a full orchestra will present our iced-out Christmas Festival for a spectacular and uplifting post-holiday music experience! I invite you to enjoy this wonderful morning of music in both 9:30 and 11:00 am Sanctuary worship services.
In these services I will also continue my series I began last week entitled In this New Year. As we move further into the New Year, we continue to think about and to be challenged by the role of our faith in our lives. One of the central questions each person faces is who am I? It is the question of identity. The New Year is a good time to ask and answer the question, “What is my identity?”
I hope to see you on Sunday as we worship together in celebration of the greatest gift given. This would be a wonderful opportunity to share the gift by inviting someone to join you in worship.
Grace and Peace,
