History of Our Hymns

Robert StovallWhat a pleasure it was to be with a great group of our members on Tuesday. The class met to discuss the topic: “Have You Ever Wondered Where Our Methodist Hymns Come From?” Our discussion centered on John and Charles, “The Wesley Boys.” Of course we all know the brothers Wesley were the ones who started the Methodist movement in the 1700s. What you may not know is that Charles is responsible for either writing or submitting text to 8,989 hymns. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, August 23, at 10:30 am in Room 154. Peggy Graff will be continuing the trek of Methodist hymns by exploring those of Isaac Watts and Fanny Crosby. We have a great time. Come join us.
