We Still Need You: Step Up!

Dear First Church Friends,

I am coming to you today with a specific request. First Church has remained financially stable during these unusual pandemic days and for that, I am truly grateful.  Please know your actions are duly noted and not taken lightly! Thank you!

The recent decision to go back to online worship only was thoughtfully decided based on what was in the best interest for you — our members.

Even though we will not be together in person for our normal over the top Advent celebrations, it certainly doesn’t mean you will be missing out. You know by now, First Church clergy and staff are stepping up and working their hearts out to bring you a beautiful and unforgettable Advent season!

The decision not to hold in-person worship is absolutely the right call but as your Director of Stewardship I also must be honest and tell you that it presents a financial challenge.

It probably won’t surprise you to hear that December, like for many other nonprofit organizations, is our strongest month of giving. This is true for us primarily because of strong attendance normally during December and especially on Christmas Eve with 5 services. My hope is that this yearly trend continues, especially since our member giving has decreased monthly since September and we have not benefitted from plate offerings since mid-March. 2019 plate offerings totaled over $90,000.

All this being said, please know your financial support is especially important this month as we count down to the end of the ear. I do not apologize for my boldness as I ask you to STEP UP financially and

Here is how you can do it:

If you have not yet made a gift to the 2020 Ministry and Operating Fund, I ask you to prayerfully step up and make one before year-end. You can do this online by visiting the church’s website or by mailing or delivering a check to our church office at 800 West Fifth Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102.

If you are like me and still in the process of fulfilling your 2020 commitment, please do so. You will be receiving a contribution statement this week showing any balance due. If you are financially positioned to do so, please step up by paying off your balance.

If you have fulfilled your 2020 commitment or been intentional and faithful in your 2020 giving, I say a big THANK YOU but I am also asking you to step up.

Perhaps you are not experiencing any financial constraints, but we also recognize that some of your fellow members are not as fortunate.  So I am asking you to step up on their behalf by making an additional sacrificial gift over and above your current giving.

I know I can count on you to step up in the next few weeks. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or thoughts.

I thank you in advance for your kind and thoughtful giving.  I wish I could see you in person to wish you a Merry Christmas but for now, from my home to yours, I wish you a Christ-filled Advent season that brings you joy, hope, love, and peace.

Thank you again!

Nancy Fisher
