We have started a wonderful new ministry at the Mission in which younger church members deliver groceries to guests with transportation issues. On the fourth Sunday of each month, Rev. Lance Marshall meets a group of “young professionals” at the Mission. They split into teams of at least two, sack groceries for their assigned guests, and then deliver them directly to their apartments. This includes FUMCFW members and friends who are housed, some of them recently, but don’t have a car to get to our regular grocery service days.
I’ve never tried to haul 3 – 4 sacks of groceries on the bus, but I can only imagine what a challenge that would be! We have heard from both our volunteers and those receiving food that this new ministry is a blessing. On Sunday, July 24, I will meet the group at the Mission for this month’s grocery sacking and delivery. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Lance (email@example.com) at 817/339-5078 or me (firstname.lastname@example.org) at 817/335-6080 (Ext. 105) for more information.
Also, we have started our Room in the Inn season right in time for the 100-degree weather this year! Each Thursday night in July and August, our team helps provide a friendly and safe community overnight in the Justin Building for 14 of our homeless male guests. Call me if you would like to be a part of our team one night!
Grace and peace,
