In recent weeks I have written a lot about opportunities to discover God’s sacred Presence as we share in the hearing and telling of our soulful stories. And typically the most meaningful, soulful stories come from some of the most difficult times in our lives. Very often, with God’s guidance and support from others near and far, these difficult times can become opportunities for us to dig deeper and discover who we are and who we are called to be. Strong character can be formed in the sacred times, or kairos. Father Richard Rohr says that we are either transformed through our pain, or we transmit our pain to others.
As we look forward to the new church season beginning in Advent, take some time this next week of Thanksgiving to listen for sacred stories.
